Vacation between tradition and present
Exclusive – exceptional – unique. Living in a lovingly restored castle.
Enjoy the flair of a historic property without renouncing modern comfort.
Arrive, breathe, relax
High above the Adige Valley, in the heart of the historic centre of Fai della Paganella, we find the “Ciastel”, as the inhabitants of the 980-strong community affectionately call the 17th century hunting lodge. Four centuries have passed since the Counts of Spaur first set out from here to hunt.
The shutters of the Castello open with a gentle creak. The first mountain sun and the fresh air of the Brenta massif flood the room. The day begins charmingly with a view out of the window, across battlements and meadows, up to the striking silhouette of the Paganella. Nature has meant well with the small municipality of Fai on the sunny plateau of Altopianio Paganella in dreamlike Trentino.
Hiking, climbing or winter sports
In Fai, nature has always exerted a magical attraction on visitors. Past historic farms, out onto the green meadows and up to the hiking trails of the Paganella and the via ferrata of the Brenta massif, guests are drawn during the summer months.
In winter, the snow-covered Paganella with its extensive ski slopes invites you to winter sports in one of the largest ski resorts in Trentino.

Castello Fai is a truly unique and exceptional accommodation nestled in the Dolomites! [...] The entire unit was exquisite, filled with antiques and paintings which told the historical story of the family that owns the Castello Fai. [...] The entire Castello was newly renovated and each bathroom was gorgeous! [...] Our stay was truly magnificent, we definitely want to go back and stay during the winter and try out the local ski areas! We have fallen in love with Italy and Castello Fai! ♥️

The accommodation is beautiful and luxurious. My family and I enjoyed the unique experience of living quietly in a majestic castle in the embrace of nature and in the village. The hostess, although I did not meet her, was very polite and helpful.

Excellent accommodation [...] The apartment is very charming, very clean, spacious and very functional. The kitchen area is equipped with everything you need and also here we appreciated the cleaning of all dishes and accessories. If you are planning to go to the Andalo, Molveno, Paganella area, this accommodation can really be an excellent solution instead of the usual hotels. Surely it will be my choice for one of my next MTB trips.

From bed linen to crockery, everything has been carefully planned down to the smallest detail. Classical style with antique furniture, but reinterpreted in a modern and design-oriented solution related to the furnishing of the entire house.

We were guests of Frowin for a weekend in April. The apartment is very cozy, with attention to detail and furnishings and perfectly clean. Frowin and his family, though far away, assisted us and their housekeeper welcomed us on site. The location is great: Parking, hiking and services in the immediate vicinity.

This was by far the best place we stayed in Italy! The newly remodeled ‘castle’ was nicer than expected. We loved all the decor and smarthome features that let us stream music to different rooms. The grounds are wonderful and the idyllic setting was more than you can ask for. Plus, you can walk to all the nearby restaurants. This place will not disappoint!

In the media
In December 2020, Italy’s largest newspaper Corriere della Sera included our Castello in its vaction supplement “Dove” as an insider tip.
In March 2019, our Castello was presented on four pages in the special weekend supplement “Einrichten“ of the Dolomiten-Anzeiger, South Tyrol’s most read daily newspaper.
The history of Castello Fai
Built in 1620 as the summer residence and hunting lodge of the Counts Spaur-Altmetz, the residence in Fai della Paganella always remained in the possession of the family.
In the years 2017-2018 we put a lot of love and expertise in the restoration of the apartment and the facade. The old flair of the building should be preserved, as well as the original furnishings, which correspond to the rural character of the old residence.
Many of the antique pieces of furniture and ancestral images could be saved and restored from the woodworm. Now these pieces shine in fresh light and fascinate every day anew. Every piece of furniture, every portrait tells us a story from the past. We would like to share this experience with our guests.
